Entrepreneurial background of- Mr.Premchand Godha
Mr. Premchand Godha hails from Village Zeerota (Rajasthan) and belongs to a farming family. After completing his
graduation in Commerce from Ajmer, Rajasthan in the year 1966, he came to Mumbai for doing Chartered Accountancy
course. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in the year 1971 and started his CA practice.
Along with Mr. M. R. Chandurkar and Bachchans, he acquired Ipca Laboratories in the year 1975 when the turnover of
the Company was a meager Rs. 50 lacs, with a single formulations manufacturing unit at Mumbai.
Mr, Bachchan & family sold their shares in 1997 and Mr. M.R. Chandurkar retired as M.D in 2007. Now, Ipca is
managed by Mr. Godha as Chairman & Managing Director. Ipca manufactures Pharmaceutical formulations, bulk
drugs(API) and drug intermediates. The turnover for 2017-18 was Rs.3250 crores. It exports to over100 countries and
now exports constitutes 48% of total turnover. Ipca Group has around 20,000 employees.
